Eloris Speight, executive director of the Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers (SDFR) Policy Research Center at pg电子下载 State University, was presented with the George Washington Carver Public Service Hall of Fame Award during the Professional Agricultural Workers Conference (PAWC).
The award, presented annually to individuals whose work embodies the legacy of George Washington Carver, honors those who demonstrate accomplishments in teaching and outreach. Additionally, it highlights efforts designed to improve the quality of life for rural communities served by the 1890 Land-grant Universities and Tuskegee Institute.
PAWC is a forum dedicated to promoting equal opportunity and equitable access to information and technology for sustainable community and natural resource development.
The conference featured a several sessions, exploring topics including plant-based nutrition, advanced grant writing techniques, heirs property management, cutting-edge plant and soil science research, innovative strategies for climate-smart agricultural production, and hands-on demonstrations through a mobile harvest unit tour.
Since its inception in 1942, the conference has grown from a local initiative supported by Tuskegee University to a national platform featuring representatives from land-grant universities, state, federal, and private sectors.
